Priority Countries

To which countries applicants can apply for an internships?
Applicants can do an internship abroad in any country, considering the restriction contained in Annex I to CAPES Notice 041/2017 which informs that 70% of the financial resources of the CAPES PrInt-Fiocruz program should be used for activities in countries considered priority.

Which are the priority countries?
According to Annex I to CAPES Notice 041/2017, the countries are: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.

May I submit my application to a country that is not considered a priority for Capes?
Yes, noting that the Annex I to CAPES Notice 041/2017 informs that 70% of the financial resources of the CAPES PrInt-Fiocruz program should be used for scholarships in countries considered priority by CAPES, therefore it is one of the criteria of selection. 

Partner institutions

Is it possible for the candidate to apply to an institution that is not registered in the CAPES PrInt-Fiocruz program?
Yes. However, it will be necessary to attach, with all other documents required, the Letter of Endorsement in which the institution formalizes the partnership in the Capes Program.

Benefits/Scholarship

What are the benefits granted under the CAPES PrInt-Fiocruz program?
The benefits available to future scholarship holders are regulated by Capes Ordinance nº 1 of January 3, 2020 depending on the modality, and may comprise monthly stipend for housing, installation aid, health insurance, and travel expenses.  

Will I receive any additional funding to take my dependents with me to the internship?
No. The CAPES PrInt-Fiocruz Program grants only benefits to the scholarship holder, not extending to its dependents.

Will I receive the benefits of the scholarship in deposit in my Brazilian account?
Only the scholarship holders whose period abroad is up to 6 months are the ones who will receive their benefits in the Brazilian account. Those whose period abroad is longer than six months will receive the first allowances in their Brazilian account and the further allowances will be deposited in the international card they will receive in their Brazilian residence before traveling.

Is it mandatory to get a health insurance before traveling? 
Yes, as required by CAPES, the health insurance must be valid for the full period of the internship.

ORCID Registration

What is ORCID (Open Researcher And Contributor ID) registration? 
ORCID is a unique identifier focused on the academic and research area.

How can I register myself on the ORCID?
You can register for free on the website https://orcid.org.

Who should have the ORCID registration?
Orcid is required for every candidate to be a beneficiary of the CAPES PrInt-Fiocruz program. The ORCID of the applicant and the candidate for the scholarship are requested in the CAPES Print-Fiocruz Calling.

Linguistic Proficiency

Which scholarship modalities require proficiency certificate under the CAPES PrInt-Fiocruz program?
The Sandwich Doctorate Scholarship and Training Scholarship.

Which proficiency tests are accepted under the CAPES PrInt-Fiocruz program?
Proficiency tests accepted are described in Annex XII of Capes PrInt  Notice 041/2017.
 

When should I present the language proficiency certificate?
It can be presented at the time of submission or within the deadline informed in the schedule of the Calling.
 
When does the language proficiency certificate is considered expired?
According to item 1.9 of Annex XII of Capes PrInt Notice 041/2017, "The last day of application in the respective Calling will be considered as the expiration date of the proficiency tests."

Is it necessary to present the language proficiency certificate for Portuguese-speaking countries?
Yes. For Portuguese-speaking countries, it is mandatory to present a certificate of proficiency in English, according to item 1.1 of Annex XII of Capes PrInt  Notice 041/2017.

Is the English proficiency certificate accepted for any country?
Yes, as long as it is accepted by the institution of destination and that it is expressed in the acceptance letter of the supervisor from abroad as a working language.

Qualification Exam

Is it necessary to approved on the Preliminary Examination to be eligible?
Yes. If you have not obtained approval by the deadline for registration in the selection process, you can present an agreement document from the coordinator of the Graduate Program stating that you have already fulfilled credits compatible with the prospect of completion of the course.
